BIGFOOT TRAIL CASE STUDY

BFTA header.jpg

The Bigfoot Trail is a 360-mile long distance hiking trail through the Klamath Mountains of northwest California and, briefly, southwest Oregon.

Overview

Project: Bigfoot Trail Assessment

Scope: The purpose of the assessment was to offer suggestions for the Bigfoot Trail Alliance to help accomplish its goals, several of which include: increase hiker engagement, improve communication with BFT hikers on the trail, and increase awareness of the trail in the hiking community.

Project Details

Process: I conducted a full assessment of trail materials including: guidebook, map, GPX track, website, 2023 annual report - Year in Review, DEI statement, FarOut app, hiker blogs, podcasts, and trip reports. Surveys were conducted with BFTA donors, members, volunteers, agency and community partners, board members and contractors, trail town partners and business stakeholders.

Impact: The Bigfoot Trail Alliance is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and currently has no paid staff. The board continues to review the assessment report and implement suggestions as time and resources allow.
